Jenny Craig?

So, we were on the way to church tonight when Rosie commented on a lady walking down the road. Here is how the conversation went...

Rosie: Look at that lady.
Lucy: Who is it?
Rosie: I don't know
Lucy: That's Jenny Craig!
Rosie: I don't think so. Jenny Craig lives in Hollywood doesn't she Mommy.
Me: I don't know, maybe.
Lucy: No, that is Jenny Craig!
Rosie: No, Jenny Craig is that lady on the commericals. Is she the lady with brown hair or blonde hair Mommy?
Me: I don't know. I don't think she is the lady on the commericals. I don't know if Jenny Craig is a real person or not.
Lucy: Yes she is, she is right there!

And on and on it went! Is she a real person? Heck if I know! Apparently Lucy has connections and apparently we watch to much tv!

Nature...

The girls are really into animals and nature (especially Rosie) so we have done quite a bit of nature study so far this year. The goal is to have nature study once a week, either at home or on a field trip...a few highlights so far....

~ Snake Day ~

A local nature center had a snake day, so of course we had to go...we loaded the girls up in the car (quite a task in itself) and headed out, we only got lost once, well ok...two times. I had to stop for directions which proved to be a challenge. None of the 'locals' could speak English, so of course no one had a clue what we were looking for. Finally I went into a Furniture Store...the nice girl there printed a map off of google for me and we were off again. There were so many people there we had to park about a mile away and walk to the center....not so bad unless you are the one carrying a four year old who suddenly decides she has forgotten how to walk...overall everyone enjoyed the center. They made crafts, saw a turtle who had been through surgery (don't ask) and looked at all types of reptiles. Two of the girls even got a Bravery Certificate for touching a snake...I'm not gonna say who the chicken was..but I bet you can figure it out...P.S. the chicken is the big one :)

~ Tallulah Gorge ~

Last week we took a picnic to Tallulah Gorge and visited the nature center and went on a hike. Lucy is doing a science fair project on leaves, so we thought it would be the perfect time to try and identify them...not so. When you have huge cliffs around you, mixed with Lucy's non stop shanagians and Rosie wanting to pick up every rock she saw there is totally no time to ID trees! Don't worry about MissPriss though....she was a long way from the edges.

MissPriss: Please hurry you mean aunt & take the picture...I'm too close to that big hole

This may be the best picture yet...don't ask....

~ Nature at Home ~

We have lots of wildlife to see at home and at Nana & Papa's...over the last month we have held a baby squirrel, played with a baby snake, and captured a lizard. Thanks to the men for catching the creatures for us...none of whom were harmed in all the action!

Lucy's Heart

The girls went to the dr for a checkup about 2 weeks ago...the pediatrician heard a heart murmur in Lucy's heart so she wanted us to go to a pediatric cardiologist.

We took her yesterday to CHOA where she had an EKG and Echocardiogram. In typical Lucy fashion she talked almost the whole 4 hours we were there and won the hearts of everyone in the place. One of the nurses said I should bring her everyday, because she loved to hear her laughing...thanks but no thanks! If you know her, you know she enjoys going to the doctor, so she wasn't bothered by the tests at all. It was just a field trip for her. She had to tell Nana all about it so she could write it into her school journal for her.

The tests show that she has an Atrial septal defect (ASD) or a hole between the wall in her heart that separates the upper heart chambers. It is a Congenital Heart Defect which basically means that she was born with it. The Doctor said that it was very small and that it could possibly still close on its on, but if it was going to it would do so in the next year. We have to take her back next fall to check up on it, but we are believing that the Lord will take care of it before next year!

Girls

A quick intro to our main players.....(names are altered to protect the innocent!)

RosieGirl ~ Rosie is a quiet 7 year old who has a love for every critter and creepy crawly that she can meet (or read about, or watch on tv). Yes...much to her mom's dismay she even likes snakes. She is working on a 2nd/3rd grade level in school and is a wonderful reader. She is even enjoying math this year (i'm beginning to wonder if she is related to me). She is on our worship dance team and is amazing.

LucyLoo ~ Lucy is a loud, chatty 4 year old who can go on and on and on and on.....about pretty much anything. She loves babies (real and pretend), her sister, doing school, & doctors. She wants to be a baby doctor when she grows up; she will make sure & explain she doesn't want to take care of babies, but she wants to deliver them! She's been obsessed with watching birth shows for well over a year now. She also has an imaginary friend...but I won't go there for now!

MissPriss ~ MissPriss is my 13 (YIKES) year old niece, who is more like a sister to the girls than a cousin...they do school together, and practically everything else. She is kind of in the middle of Rosie and Lucy...not real quiet, not too loud. She wasn't sure about starting homeschool...WHAT, I have to spend all day with those two...no people MY age! But almost 2 months down now and shhhhh dont tell but I think she likes it!

Me

Where to start....I am a wife (going on 9 years) a mom, a history lover, a photographer, a veteran, a repressed NKOTB fan, part time homeschooler, church worker, employed by the state.....

Our home consists of 4 humans, 1 imaginary friend, 3 dogs, a colony of ants, and whatever other kind of bugs my daughter brings in for the night.

I was thinking...

Maybe if I start a blog someone will read it and think my life is entertaining (it is quite comical at times) and they will want to make a reality show out of my life. Then I can quit work, stop getting up at 5:30 four days a week, and just be one of those perfect moms you see on TV...then I realized that involved a camera...ummm...NO! That would mean I would have to clean, cook and wear makeup everyday, not to mention make sure the girls aren't dirty and are behaving...all of this while I make sure only my 'good' side is facing the camera guy. So ABC, if you are reading this, I will only sign the paper if the deal includes a maid, a chef and a stylist :) Otherwise....forget about it!

Seriously though, we all (or most) watch those shows and think about how wonderful that mom/wife/husband/bachelor is. Well, if I had a ton of personal helpers attending to my every need when the camera was off I would probably seem just about perfect also! No way is this reality. If you made it this far...welcome :)
